At Rockford Ambulatory Surgery Center (RASC), we offer a compassionate, state-of-the-art setting for hysteroscopy and uterine ablation, procedures that many women find beneficial for various uterine conditions. Our center works collaboratively with your gynecologist to provide you with the highest level of care during these outpatient procedures.
A hysteroscopy utilizes a hysteroscope, a specialized instrument equipped with a light and camera, to provide a detailed view inside the uterus, aiding in the diagnosis of issues like abnormal bleeding or potential intrauterine conditions.
Uterine ablation, or endometrial ablation, is a minimally invasive procedure aimed at resolving abnormal uterine bleeding by targeting and removing or destroying the uterine lining, offering an alternative to more invasive surgeries and potentially avoiding the need for a hysterectomy.
The combination of hysteroscopy and uterine ablation procedures can be used to both identify and treat causes of abnormal bleeding, providing a comprehensive approach to uterine health in a single, outpatient visit.
Your experience begins with a consultation with your gynecologist to discuss your symptoms and treatment options. If you and your doctor decide on hysteroscopy and/or uterine ablation, they will schedule the procedure at RASC. We'll provide you with all the necessary information to prepare for the procedure, including fasting instructions and any changes to your medication regimen. Also, you'll need to arrange for someone to drive you home and stay with you overnight after the procedure.
On the day of your procedure, you'll be in the care of your gynecologist, supported by our RASC surgical team. You will receive anesthesia to ensure your comfort. The procedures are typically quick, with hysteroscopy often taking less than one hour and uterine ablation requiring approximately 10 minutes.
After your procedure, you'll rest in our recovery area with supportive care from our staff. You will go home the same day with specific aftercare instructions. You may experience some cramping or vaginal discharge, which is normal. Your gynecologist will provide guidance on pain management and recovery, including when you can return to normal activities.
Your procedure will be performed by the surgeon you trust in our modern surgical center, ensuring continuity of care from consultation to recovery.
Our surgical staff are specialists in outpatient procedures, ensuring that you receive expert care in a welcoming environment.
RASC is equipped with the latest in medical technology, providing you with the highest standard of care.
We understand your time is valuable. Our efficient scheduling and streamlined processes mean you spend less time waiting and more time recovering in the comfort of your home.
